The Times: new international edition and relaunching of "Knowledge"
From UK Press Gazette: "The Times has today announced the launch of a new international edition printed in Charleroi, Marseilles and Madrid. It will be edited by former Scottish Times editor John Mair and will be a scaled-down version including “the best of The Times”. Times editor Robert Thomson said: “The launch of The Times International Edition is an important step in the global development of the paper.
And according to BrandRepublic, The Knowledge (previously an A5 guide to London events and culture) has been redesigned to the size of Saturday's Times Magazine. Former Time Out editor Dominic Wells has been appointed as editor. It will be published in four regional editions -- Scotland and Ireland; North of England; West and Central; London, East and South East -- to offer a local as well as a national viewpoint. Features content and searchable listings will be available on Times Online, which will also offer users the chance to watch trailers of films reviewed and listen to excerpts of music reviewed in the guide."
George Brock, editor of the Saturday Times, claimed The Knowledge was "the first magazine of its kind and highlights how other guides are trapped in the past".

Let's hope they make a better fist of it than the Daily Telegraph has with its Weekly Telegraph. Apart frome being a miscllany of stuff including articles taken from Le Monde (no objection there), there's so much obscure crap in it, it's not worth the cover price - unless you're really desparate for an English language read.
